Welcome to SDX
SDX (Sustainability Data Exchange) is a not-for-profit, industry-governed platform that provides free tools for real estate sustainability data management, benchmarking, and reporting.
Who is SDX for?
SDX serves four canonical groups. Each gets a dedicated docs landing page:
- Owners — real estate owners, asset managers, and sustainability leads at owner orgs
- Consultants — sustainability consultants managing many client portfolios with delegated access
- Developers / Third-Party Apps — engineers integrating with SDX via API or wiring it into agents via MCP
- Capital Markets — index providers, lenders, and research teams consuming SDX data via MCP
The platform is free
There are no fees to use SDX. Owners, consultants, and third-party software platforms can read from and write to the platform at zero cost. The only monetization comes from board-approved licensed content sold to capital markets and other third parties who consume aggregate data products.
Data contributors receive all licensed content free for their own internal use, plus a share of the revenue generated from third-party sales through the Data Dividend.
