Benchmark subscriptions

SDX Market Benchmark

Aggregate benchmark distributions for all major property use types, segmented by geography and building size.

Metrics included:

• Energy Use Intensity (EUI) — kWh/m²/year
• Carbon Intensity — kgCO₂e/m²/year
• Water Use Intensity — litres/m²/year
• SDX percentile score distribution

For each segment you receive the minimum, 25th percentile, median, 75th percentile, maximum, and building count.

Custom peer group benchmark

A tailored benchmark dataset built to match the composition of your portfolio. Specify the use types, geographies, and size bands that matter to you, and SDX produces a bespoke peer group analysis.

Minimum peer group size: 20 buildings (to ensure anonymisation).

ENERGY STAR distribution

Aggregate ENERGY STAR score distributions for eligible US and Canadian buildings. Includes percentile bands by use type and CBSA region.

Market indices

SDX Global Sustainability Index

A quarterly time-series index tracking the energy and carbon intensity of the global commercial real estate market.

• History — Available from 2020 onward
• Frequency — Quarterly data points
• Breakdown — Overall, by use type, and by region
• Methodology — Area-weighted average of all buildings with data quality grade B or above

SDX Country Indices

Country-level indices for 40+ markets. Each index tracks EUI, carbon intensity, and water use intensity over time.

SDX Sector Indices

Sector-level indices for each major property use type. Useful for comparing the sustainability trajectory of office vs. retail vs. residential at a global level.

Data packs

Anonymised building-level dataset

Individual building records with all identifying information removed. Each record includes:

• Use type
• Country and climate zone
• Floor area band
• Year built band
• EUI, carbon intensity, water use intensity
• SDX benchmark score
• Data quality grade
• CRREM stranding year band

Record count: Updated quarterly. Current dataset contains 100,000+ building records.

Emission factor dataset

The grid and fuel emission factors used in SDX calculations, sourced from IEA, national registries, and utility-specific data.

• Coverage — 190+ countries, sub-national where available (e.g. US eGRID regions, Australian states)
• Frequency — Updated annually with the latest published factors
• Format — CSV and JSON

Stranding risk dataset

Aggregate CRREM pathway alignment data showing the percentage of buildings in each segment that are stranded (or projected to strand) under 1.5 °C and 2 °C scenarios.

• Segments — By use type, country, and decade
• Metrics — Percentage stranded, median years to stranding, average carbon gap
